Key Groups

There are a number of priority groups that Australian Apprenticeships NT is encouraging employers to consider when reviewing their staffing requirements. Students doing Australian School-based Apprenticeships, Indigenous Australians, mature age workers and people with disabilities are often overlooked by employers but represent a large pool of potential employees. There are also a number of support initiatives and incentives that employers and apprentices from these groups may be eligible for.

Australian School-based Apprenticeships

Australian School-based Apprenticeships (SBAs) are available to secondary school students whilst they are still at school. A school-based apprentice’s year is divided between normal school studies & part time work which comprises of on-the-job training with the employer & off-the-job training with the registered training organisation. The student’s training contributes towards their NTCE and makes an excellent school to work transition.
